Jelly Eggs in the Water
Every frog starts as a tiny egg! Mama frogs lay their eggs in ponds, puddles, or slow streams. Frog eggs look like little black dots surrounded by squishy, clear jelly. The jelly protects the eggs and keeps them safe. A mama frog can lay hundreds or even thousands of eggs at one time! All those eggs stuck together are called 'frog spawn.' The eggs float near the top of the water where the sun can keep them warm.
