The Seed Cracks Open!
When a seed gets water and warmth, something magical happens. The hard seed coat cracks open and a tiny root pokes out! This is called 'germination.' The root pushes down into the soil, digging deeper and deeper. It holds the plant in place like an anchor. Then a tiny green stem pushes up toward the light. Push, push, push! The stem breaks through the soil and reaches for the sunshine. The first little leaves open up and say hello to the world!
