Shape Matters!

Here is something amazing: the SAME object can sink OR float depending on its shape! Take a ball of clay and drop it in water — it sinks! But flatten that same clay into a wide, flat boat shape with sides — it FLOATS! The amount of clay is the same, but the shape changed. A flat shape spreads the weight over more water, so the water can push it up. This is how boats work!
