Solids — Strong and Steady

Look around you — solids are everywhere! A solid is something that keeps its shape. Pick up a book. Does it change shape? No! Put it on a table. Same shape! Solids hold their form because the tiny pieces inside them (called molecules) are packed tightly together. They are like a crowd of people standing shoulder to shoulder — they cannot move around much.
