What Is Harvest?
Harvest is the time when farmers gather the crops they planted in spring and grew all summer. It is the reward for months of hard work!
Autumn is the BIG harvest season because that is when most crops are ripe and ready to pick. Farmers have to work fast because they need to gather everything before the first frost kills the plants.
Harvest is one of the oldest human traditions. For thousands of years, people have celebrated the harvest with festivals, feasts, and giving thanks. That is where Thanksgiving comes from! It started as a harvest celebration — thanking the earth for providing food.
