What Are Turns?
Taking turns means one person goes, then another person goes, then another. Everyone gets a chance, one at a time.
You take turns ALL the time:
- On the playground: waiting for the slide, taking turns on the swing
- In class: raising your hand and waiting to be called on
- In games: waiting for your move in a board game
- In conversation: listening when someone talks, then sharing YOUR thoughts
- At home: taking turns choosing what to watch or what game to play
Turns are important because when everyone tries to go at the same time, NOBODY can go! Imagine if everyone tried to go down the slide at once β it would be a pile-up!
Taking turns is a way of showing RESPECT. It says, 'I think you are important enough to wait for. Your turn matters just as much as mine.'
