What Is a Label?
A label is a word that tells you the name of something. Labels are everywhere around you!
Look around your room right now. Do you see any labels? The word 'EXIT' above a door is a label. The name on your cubby at school is a label. The word 'PUSH' on a door handle is a label. The names of foods at the grocery store are labels.
When we label a picture, we write the name of things IN the picture and draw a line from the word to the thing it names. This helps people know exactly what everything in the picture is.
Scientists label their diagrams. Builders label their blueprints. Doctors label body parts. Labeling is a skill that grown-ups use every day!
