Argumentative writing is a powerful tool that helps you convince your readers to understand and agree with your point of view. To begin your argument, you need to make a clear claim. This claim is your opinion on a specific issue, and it should be something that people can discuss and debate. For example, if you believe that dogs make the best pets, that’s your claim. However, just stating your opinion isn’t enough. You must back it up with strong evidence. This evidence can come in many forms, such as facts, statistics, expert opinions, and real-life examples that support your argument. For instance, instead of just saying, 'I think dogs are the best pets,' you could say, 'Research shows that dog owners tend to exercise 30 minutes more each day than those who don’t own dogs.' This way, you provide solid proof that makes your argument more convincing and helps your readers see your perspective more clearly.
