Setting Up Logic Games: The Diagram
The Analytical Reasoning section contains 4 logic games, each with 5-7 questions, for a total of 22-24 questions in 35 minutes. The most critical skill is setting up an efficient diagram before attempting any questions. For a linear game (ordering elements in fixed positions), draw a row of numbered slots representing positions. List all variables (players) above or to the side. Immediately symbolize every rule in shorthand notation. For example, 'A is before B' becomes A β B (with an arrow). 'C and D are not adjacent' becomes CD with a slash through it. 'If E is in position 3, then F is in position 5' becomes E3 β F5. The setup phase should take no more than 3-4 minutes per game.
