Why Audience Analysis Matters
The same topic delivered the same way will succeed brilliantly with one audience and fall flat with another. A presentation about climate change for fifth graders requires different vocabulary, examples, and pacing than the same topic presented to city council members. Audience analysis is the process of researching who will be listening β their age, knowledge level, interests, values, and expectations β so you can tailor your message accordingly. Great speakers do not simply deliver information; they build a bridge between what they know and what their audience needs to hear.
